These days, I'm getting addicted to Bollywood films. And all I can say is that the 3 hours time I spent on every movies are all worth it. I'm a Filipino but I idolized their films. Their movies are so great that even if I also spend much time in finding their movies in the internet with subtitles, I'm not giving a damn. I love it all :3
Most of their movies pertains to reality. Here, movies were not like that. Some of their movies are tragic and that makes me more intersted in theirs. Well, maybe because I love looking at the reality side. I maybe a romance writer and many people think believe in fantasy but actually, I'm more stick into what really life is. So here am I, getting addicted with those films.
NOTE: Sorry for the wrong grammars. :P
Dean Yoginder Vashisht (Rishi Kapoor), retired, has fallen gravely ill. Several students from his final year at St. Theresa's College rush to his side. In flashbacks, they all recall the events that none of them have gotten over yet, including the dean, and how the "Student of the Year" competition shaped who they were, how they related, and what they've become.
*I must say I include this on the list because of Siddharth. LOL. The story is not that great...but they have the perfect lead roles! I love you Siddharth Malhotra. It was just so hot watching this film. HAHAHA!
Vivah is the story of the engagement period of Prem (Shahid Kapoor), an upper-class business manager, and Poonam (Amrita Rao), a middle class college student. It is set in Delhi and also in the fictional town of Madhupur, located near Delhi in Uttar Pradesh.
*Just like Yaadein, this was kinda boring at first. Just a smooth relationship between the two couple. Hmmm, I must say I was tweeting about that this story might get rejected if it was wrote in PHR, LOL. Because of the conflict. I thought there will be no conflict. But the conflict of the story makes me love this movie. Well, who would like a guy that will still marry you even you have third degree burns and your marriage is just an arranged one? I love Prem to the highest level. HAHAHA!
8. Yaadein
Raj Singh Puri is best friends with L.K. Malhotra who is the younger brother of J.K. Malhotra. The brothers are business tycoons and Raj works in their company. Raj has 3 daughters. Isha the youngest fell for Ronit, LK Malhotra's son. Everything changes because of that.
* This movie was actually boring at first. But when I realized how the story flows, I kinda like it. I love how Ronit adopts Raj attitude even if they are not really in blood. Maybe because he grew up with him more than he was in his family. I love how Ronit loves Isha and how he was heartbroken when Isha shuns his relationship with Ronit. I want to replay those parts because I can really feel how its hard for Ronit. Hritik Roshan was really great in this movie, I must say. He pulls out all the emotions needed.
7. Veer-Zaara
Set against the backdrop of conflict between India and Pakistan, this star-crossed romance follows the unfortunate love story of an Indian Air Forcepilot, Squadron Leader Veer Pratap Singh, and a Pakistani woman hailing from a rich political family of Lahore, Zaara Haayat Khan, who are separated for 22 years. Saamiya Siddiqui, a Pakistani lawyer, finds Veer in prison, and upon listening to his story, tries to get him freed.
*This movie was recommended to me by my "good friend". And this was I think the fourth bollywood movie I watch. It was very touching since I can really feel the love of Veer to Zaara. Well, with that 22 years in prison just to protect Zaara's grace and no one visits you? It was like.. wow! Just wow. What a great love you have for a girl you just spend a day with. Its a great and heart warming story.
6. Aitraaz
Successful businessman Raj Malhotra (Akshay Kumar) has everything going for him, including a lovely wife (Kareena Kapoor). Just when he thinks things can't get any better, Sonia (Priyanka Chopra) - his ex-girlfriend, now the boss's wife - walks back into his life - and she wants Raj.
*This is the first Priyanka Chopra movie I watch. And even if she have a negative character here, I really, really appreciate her performance! I first loved her here. The hero, I don't like him that much..so skip that part. LOL. Kareena Kapoor here, hmmmm.... I actually think the role fits on her. She really do good in this movie even if Priyanka, I think, more become the star. It was a romance thriller movie and because I love those kind of movies, please don't blame me for loving it. I love how Kareena managed to fight for her husband and how Priyanka acts as the irritating villain. That's all. :P
5. Rockstar!
It follows Janardhan Jakhar a.k.a. JJ and Jordan, who dreams of becoming a big rockstar. He undergoes an emotional change to do so and during the process, a love story follows with a girl named Heer, which takes him from India to Prague.
*My Ranbir Kapoor is a rockstar! Hahaha! I thought, at first, this is also a boring movie since I can't understand the first part. Plus the fact that the site I've watch, some of the subtitles lines are not available. But... the movie went interesting in the middle. Especially when Heer was diagnosed with Leukemia... I actually find JJ sweet on that part even if he was still rude! Hahaha! Its just too sad that this story is tragic because Heer died. But sometimes, I think I'm abnormal because I appreciate tragic romance love stories more on happy endings. Well, maybe because I always believe it happens in reality.
4. Ishaqzaade
The story of Ishaqzaade casually links with a popular love story Romeo and Juliet. Rising from the ashes of hooliganism and small town clan wars, comes the love story of a passion ignited by hatred. Two people. Born to hate. Destined to love.
*so okay! This movie was actually not in my original list. But since Im not yet finished with this post, I include this. All I can say is that I love Arjun Kapoor! hahaha! OMG, this was his debut movie and he really did great(for me because he got my heart. LOL) Noo,,, ahmm! he was really good. The way he acts, to do the sensual scenes, gosh, I really can feel it! Hahaha. Parineeti Chopra is really good, too. I kinda like her. She's beautiful, cute. Like that. And I love his character here. She is so strong. And the movie, over all, its really good. Its a tragic love story again but all I can say is I love it because it suprises me. And yes, it shows the reality of life. Well maybe not here, but in India, I can say. But somehow, this movie bothers me. HAHAHA!
3. Three Idiots
Two friends are searching for their long lost companion. They revisit their college days and recall the memories of their friend who inspired them to think differently, even as the rest of the world called them "idiots".
* This is the first ever bollywood film I watched. Every college student, especially engineering students, can relate to this movie. I've heard its the highest grossing film in India and I won't demand on that. It deserves it. The story is very inspiring and very entertaining to watch. Every time I am pressured in school, I watch this movie and I feel kinda well after. I just wish I have watch this before I entered college so that I will not be the Princess I am now. Hahahaha!
2. Barfi!
Set in 1970s, the film depicts the story of Murphy "Barfi" Johnson (a mute and deaf man from Darjeeling, West Bengal) and his relationship with two girls, Shruti and Jhilmil (who is autistic).
* I've heard about this movie a long time ago but I didn't try to watch this because I think its boring. Whenever I watch a movie, I want to have a "romance" genre in it. Here, I thought, there's nothing romantic because of the poster. Hahaha! And aside from that, I didn't even knew Ranbir Kapoor then. I thought he's not cute and like that. LOL. But when I watched Rockstar, I started to watched all his award-winning movies, too. And this one is his greatest! The movie is so heart-warming. I really love the POV line here of Shruti saying... "Barfi may be incomplete. But his love is complete." Its a lovestory between two unusual people. This is the first time I watched a movie like this but it really touched my heart. Plus Priyanka Chopra (my favorite Bollywood actress) really did great in this movie. I also love the message here...of Shruti again... (even if I don't like her, LOL) "It could have been me instead of Jhilmil. But it was Jhilmil who got Barfi. Because she didn't plan to fall in love. She didn't think about the consequences. She didn't think how life would turn out. She just loved him unconditionally. And it all turned out well in the end."... In the end, she look like a martyr villain. Hahaha! An unsuccessful one sided love :P
1. Ghajini
The film discussed about a rich business tycoon, Sanjay Singhania, (Aamir Khan) who develops anterograde amnesia following a violent encounter in which his love interest, model Kalpana, was killed. He tries to avenge the killing with the aid of Polaroid Instant camera photographs and permanent tattoos on his body.
* Third bollywood film I watched. I heard about this movie through my classmate and decided to watch it because they said it was a comedy film. That time, I need to make myself laugh because I can't moved on with the romance drama film I watched before that night. But I was wrong when I did it because its not a real comedy at all. Hmmmm... Some scenes are but over all story is mostly thriller and action. It was boring at first and you'll think that maybe the story is bad because of the first scene Aamir's character. But when the "past" is discussed, its very entertaining and funny. The story was really great! All movie genre I want to see in a film was here, romance, drama, comedy, thriller and action. Yay! Its just too sad that in the end, Kalpana died without knowing that her boyfriend is the real Sanjay Singhania---the CEO of Airvoice mobile company.
